Lost in Translation

One working day, I was tasked by our Business Manager (BM) to do something. I cannot disclose what that is because it is confidential. :) But just to give you an overview on the task, it was something that I rarely do: make a write-up in Bisaya. Hmmm..Now how was I gonna do this?

I am a proud Cebuana living in the Queen City of the South, Cebu, in the beautiful country, the Philippines. And yes, I do speak our native dialect - Bisaya. But with the influence of Western culture, I don't speak deep Bisaya compared to other Cebuanos. There are some bisaya words that I don't even know of nor do I even understand. Some people I know are even shocked whenever I don't know the meaning of the bisaya term they're using. Ha ha ha!

So back to the topic, I was having a little difficulty translating English words to Bisaya. I kept asking my officemate and texted some of my friends if they can translate this and that word for me. It was really funny on my part. Ha ha ha! And out of an even more desperation, I tweeted this:

To which my friend, Niel, replied:

I was thankful that my good friend, Niel, led me to this site: Binisaya.com. It helped me with my write-up just in time before our BM asked it from me. :)

So those of you who want to learn some Bisaya words, you can visit this site and try experimenting on some words. Im not saying that the translation is the exact word you're looking for but just give it a try. It's fun :)
